Howard Nemerov, one of the good guys at www.examiner.com took note of the way a particular story was presented in the mainstream media. Was it journalism, or was it editorializing about guns?

You may declare gun free zones, but you cannot declare killer free zones

Black of the United States District Court for New Mexico entered summary judgment in a civil case for damages against Alamogordo, NM police officers. The Judge's straight shootin' message to police: Leave open carriers alone unless you have "reason to believe that a crime [is] afoot."

From an article at the local Green Bay <a class="zem_slink" href="http://abc.go.com/" title="American Broadcasting Company" rel="homepage">ABC</a> affiliate, WBAY, we read that local gun owners attended a meeting of the <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_council" title="City council" rel="wikipedia">City Council</a> to help educate them about the legalities of open carry in town, whether or not it is a "park."

<a href="http://www.sacramentopress.com/headline/12987">This article from the Sacramento (Ca.) Press</a> is important for us here in New Hampshire because it deals with how federal laws affect the 50 states.

Civil rights restored to North Carolina man

ANGIER, N.C. – One small town lawyer from Angier, N.C., has won a big victory for second amendment advocates.

For nearly five years, Dan Hardway has been working a case that would restore gun rights to a convicted felon.

"They were trying to punish Barney [Britt] again for a crime that he committed in 1979 that he has fully paid for," says Hardway.

Chicago has some of the most oppressive gun control in the USA

Not surprisingly, here are the results, as told by a site that is anti-gun rights:

<blockquote><cite>
Last summer, 125 Chicago families lost loved ones in combat. But unlike the coffins draped in American flags returning home from Iraq, these contained victims of local gun violence. The city of Chicago had suffered nearly twice as many fatalities as all American soldiers in Iraq over the same period. Their battlefields were the streets of Chicago — the very streets now courting the 2016 Olympics.

Goofy Gun Control

This might be my favorite quote of the week:

<blockquote><cite>"Trying to reduce gun crime by <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationing" title="Rationing" rel="wikipedia">rationing</a> guns to law-abiding citizens is as absurd as trying to reduce drunk driving by rationing cars to non-drinkers."</cite></blockquote>
