Ruling goes against boy in 'the Pop-Tart case'

A hearing examiner has affirmed the suspension of a Maryland boy who chewed his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun.

The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/TyXelM) reports that hearing examiner Andrew Nussbaum supported a principal's assertion that the suspension was based on a history of problems, not the pastry episode some refer to as "the Pop-Tart case." Nussbaum's 30-page opinion is dated June 26.

The incident took place last year when the Anne Arundel County boy was 7 years old.

Judge: No-fly list violates constitutional rights

The U.S. government offers no adequate method for people to challenge their placement on its no-fly list, a federal judge ruled Tuesday in a case involving 13 Muslims who believe they're on the list.

U.S. District Court Judge Anna Brown found people lack a meaningful way to challenge their placement on the list, which bars them from flying to or within the United States. She also said the 13 people who sued the government have been unconstitutionally deprived of their right to fly.

Store Clerk Fired After Scaring Would-Be Robber With His Gun

A convenience store clerk’s choice to save his life have cost him his job.

Don Pitaniello, 58, said he was preparing to close Mac’s Convenience Store in Rutland, Vermont, on Sunday when a man wearing a hoodie and a bandanna covering his face walked into the store and demanded Pitaniello empty the register.

“I looked up when I heard the doorbell rang and saw the hoodie, the bandana and a bag in his hand,” Pitaniello told the ABC News.

“I knew his intentions as soon as he came in,” Pitaniello said.

Police Chief Tried To Set Up Tea Party Leader As A Porn Fan

A police chief in Wisconsin has admitted to setting up fake accounts on pornography websites (among others) for a local tea party leader. The chief said his actions were retribution after the local tea party group complained when his department made them take down signs from overpasses.
