Student suspended for making hand gun gesture

MILFORD, Mass. (WHDH) - A fifth grade student in Milford was suspended because according to school officials he made his hand into the shape of a gun and pointed it at other students.

School officials said the 10-year-old's actions indicated a threat, but his family didn't agree.

"It was absolutely ridiculous. Nickolas is a sweet little boy that was just standing in line at lunch playing with his hands,” Linda O'Brien, the boy's grandmother, said.

The actions were taken very seriously at Milford's Stacy Middle School where the boy is a student.

The assistant principal sent Nickolas Taylor's dad a note explaining because Nickolas pointed a gun "made from his hand" at two girls in a lunch line and then blew on his fingers as if to cool off the gun barrel its considered "a threat".

O'Brien said her grandson was punished for what is “typical little boy behavior.”

The story even made front page news in the Milford paper.

"His dad made sure to let him know he's not famous, he was wronged. This shouldn't have happened,” O'Brien said.

On Wednesday the boy's father met with school officials to discuss what happens next. The boy is going to be allowed back to school but his father is considering other options.

MILFORD, Mass. (WHDH) - Police made an arrest in connection with a robbery at a Quick Mart Convenience store on Nov. 17.

Steven Levasseur, 23, lived around the corner from the convenience store, according to Milford Police Deputy Chief James Heron.

He was charged with armed robbery while masked and use of a firearm during a felony.

He was arraigned in Milford District Court.

According to Heron, evidence was recovered at Levasseur's home that linked him to the crime.

The robbery was caught on surveillance camera. The suspect, a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, and a mask, was seen walking up to the counter with a gun pointed at the clerk. He reached behind the counter to grab cash from the register.
