Faulty liberal theories don't work: about the economy or about gun-grabbing

<img src="http://media.washtimes.com/media/image/2011/06/09/b1handguns-ah_s160x109... align="right">The Washington Times editorial (http://www.washingtontimes.com ) from August 22, 2001 discusses the results of one trillion dollars of cure that the current administration has poured into fixing unemployment. Liberals told us that this would stimulate the economy. It did not.

Liberals also told us that if law-abiding concealed-carry gun owners were to set foot into a restaurant or bar, that there would be shootouts like the old west had.

Police return camera, cameraman can get back to work

Although this case is ongoing, we see progress. The Concord Monitor tells us that restrictions and equipment confiscation have been removed from Mr. Blackden so that he can get back to work.

<blockquote>
"The Concord photographer convicted earlier this year of impersonating an emergency responder for coming to a fatal crash scene dressed in firefighting gear can once again take pictures of car accidents.

A Merrimack County judge last week granted Brian Blackden's request to drop the bail condition that prevented him from going within 500 feet of emergency scenes."

"Because we decline to recognize the right of a homeowner..."

In an opinion given by the Indiana Supreme Court (see attached PDF below) we can read that the court says "[b]ecause we decline to recognize the right of a homeowner to reasonably resist unlawful entry, Barnes is not entitled to batter Reed, irrespective as to the legality of Reed‘s entry."

While this sentence is loaded with double negatives and cloudy meaning, it says that the court will not recognize a right that a homeowner has. The right to which they refer is the one that allows you or me to resist someone coming in to our own home unlawfully.

A different take on gun rights

<img src="http://images.mises.org/GunSafe.jpg" align="right"><blockquote>
Something happened in Buffalo, New York, late last year that contradicts the propaganda of those who support "gun control" — the control of law-abiding people who wish to own a gun for protection against the assorted nefarious elements in this world. A citizen actually used a gun, a shotgun, to defend his home and his family against armed intruders. ("Man who fatally shot intruder was victim of previous home invasion," Buffalo News, November 14, 2002.)

"Dollar a bullet" tax proposed in Baltimore

A mayoral candidate in Baltimore plans to solve all the crime problems and improve the "quality of life" in Baltimore by charging an extra tax, this one on bullets.

<blockquote>
Otis Rolley said he would, if elected, propose a $1 per bullet tax on all bullet purchases in the city. The idea was part of an overall crime plan he unveiled Tuesday.

SWAT team from the Department of... Education?

Quoting from Ammo Land (www.ammoland.com):

Manassas, VA --(Ammoland.com)- It’s 6 AM and a groggy Ken Wright is getting ready to start the day. Thinking about jumping in the shower, getting the coffee on, and wake the kids… Suddenly noise from outside draws his attention and he looks out the window.

He sees dozens of black-clad, armored men swarming on his lawn and now someone is pounding on the front door.

As he starts down the stairs in his boxer shorts the front door shatters and the heavily armed men charge into the house pointing guns and shouting orders.

The power to 'erase history'

<img src="http://bobmunden.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/munden-fastestgun.jpg" align="right">Many of our readers have heard of Bob Munden, who has been setting world Fast Draw records and accomplishing amazing shooting feats for audiences worldwide. His use of a firearm is a little different from those who use it in their line of work. What we do have in common is that the firearm is a tool that requires time, practice, and training.

And another gun owner fired from his job

<blockquote>
"The first thing I tried to do was dial 911 but I couldn't get it done," Hoven said. "Within seconds he was over the counter. And I'm looking at the wrong end of a 9-millimeter (gun). He was holding it gangster-style" - sideways.

Rules again, more rules
