You may declare gun free zones, but you cannot declare killer free zones

Monopolized: Helpless Children Stabbed To Death With Pitchfork</cite></a>, grandmother Mary Carpenter is quoted in a letter to the North Carolina General Assembly about her experience in California.

While her grandchildren were "safe" at home, on August 23, 2000, Jonathan David Bruce broke into the Carpenter home and, armed with a pitch fork, brutally attacked the four children at home alone, killing two. Although the children were trained in the use of firearms, the family's guns were locked away in compliance with California law. So the guns were safe, but the children were not.

Ms. Carpenter's letter helped defeat this anti-rights bill, but another similar bill is coming up currently, also in North Carolina.
