"When only cops have guns"

Those of you who know me, know this is one of my pet peeves. Some people think that only the police should have guns. Imagine if that were true, in light of the following story:

Gun Rights Don't Apply In Domestic Violence Cases, Appeals Court Rules

Forget the rhetoric on both sides after last year's Heller decision. So far, at least, there seems to be few state or federal gun-related laws -- except, perhaps for a complete handgun ban -- that U.S. courts are willing to strike down as unconstitutional.

This may seem a little off-topic, but bear with me.

Most of you have probably noticed the sluggish behavior of sites this weekend such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, and others. This is due to a "cyber attack" (as the media calls it) that is taking place with remnants of the former Soviet Union. It has to do with someone who is not happy with the way the government is doing something, and the government is attempting to silence him by crashing the web sites that let him post his opinions.

Before you think this is about free speech, and our beloved First Amendment, let me tell you why it is on a Second Amendment web page here.

I Resist Gun Control

This is a site that you should consider joining and reading: http://www.resistnet.com/group/iresistguncontrol

They are part of Resist Net, which resists the current administration's effort to turn the USA into a socialist state. This particular group regards gun rights under attack in that process. I've been a member of this group for quite a while, and they are one of the Good Guys.

This is from their site:

Enough already?

I was just reading a post on domelights.com ... you may remember that this is the site that was shut down because they were exercising free speech.

The front page says that they have been shut down, but hot links into the site still appear to work. For example, the one I was reading is at: http://www.domelights.com/guncontro11.htm

The author, Fred McQuiggan Jr., makes some good points, including that the point is "responsible gun ownership" and not so much the Second Amendment. I don't agree with everything he says, but it was an interesting and thought-provoking read.
